Job Overview

We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Trade Counter Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for customers at our trade counter, helping them find the right products for their needs, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the Trade counter. You’ll have the opportunity to work with a wide range of plumbing and heating products, develop strong relationships with trade and retail customers, and contribute to the success of our business.


Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service: Greet and assist trade and retail customers, providing expert product advice and solutions to meet their plumbing needs.
  • Sales Support: Process customer orders and inquiries both in-person and over the phone, ensuring all sales are recorded accurately and efficiently.
  • Product Knowledge: Maintain a strong understanding of plumbing and heating products in our inventory and stay up to date with new stock and industry trends.
  • Stock Management: Assist with receiving deliveries, restocking shelves, and maintaining an organised trade counter. Ensure all products are displayed clearly and attractively.
  • Order Preparation: Accurately pick, pack, and prepare orders for collection or delivery, ensuring all customer requirements are met.
  • Cash Handling: Process payments and manage till operations in accordance with company policies.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with warehouse staff, sales teams, and other colleagues to ensure excellent service is delivered to every customer.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous Experience: Experience working in a plumbing trade counter, builders’ merchant, or similar retail environment is preferred but not essential.
  • Product Knowledge: A good understanding of plumbing and heating products is an advantage, but we are willing to provide training to the right candidate.
  • Customer-Focused: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for providing outstanding customer service.
  • Organised & Detail-Oriented: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise, and maintain a high level of accuracy in all work.
  • Basic IT Skills: Competent in using point-of-sale systems and basic software like Microsoft Office.
  • Physical Requirements: The role involves some manual handling, so you must be comfortable lifting and moving products.
